Speedy Mexican Takes Ian Hayden 10R Trophy

On the weekend of the 19th & 20th of January 2019, the Ian Hayden 10R Trophy was held at Kogarah Bay Sailing Club and hosted by Kogarah Bay Radio Yacht Club. This regatta is round one of the NSW 10R GP series and is held annually to celebrate the considerable contribution made by the late Ian Hayden to radio sailing, the NSWRYA and KBRYC.

NSW Tyson Trophy - 1st December

Saturday 1st December saw the last GP event for Ten Raters for the 2018 season. It was hosted by the Northern Mariners at Kariong gardens.

There were thirteen competitive yachts show up from 4 clubs from across the state.

NSW IOM State Championship - 17/18th November

Weed n Jellies the Winner at Koonawarra!

The forecast wind conditions leading up to the 2018 IOM NSW State Championship looked fantastic and nothing other than quality racing was expected with Jonesy (Paul Jones), Flemo (Scott Fleming) and The Prez (Sean Wallis) expected to battle it out.

Why wouldn’t that be the case? With various state titles currently held by the trio and Jonesy defending his NSW title, there was little doubt we were going to see a terrific shootout that would probably result in determining the favourite for the upcoming nationals on the Gold Coast.

As forecast, the wind was in for the scheduled start time and the fleet hit the water in anticipation of some real exciting racing and certainly B rigs for the latter part of the day.

NSW 10R Class State Championship - 10/11th November

The 2018 NSW 10 Rater State Championship

Hosted by Kogarah Bay Radio Yacht Club 10th and 11th November 2018

Eighteen skippers turned up to sail in the Championship including defending champion Andrew Reid from Melbourne. The remainder of the fleet was made up of three skippers from Canberra MYC, seven from the Northern Mariners, Trevor Fisher from Queensland, Selwyn Holland from Wollongong RYC, Greg Mence from Lake Macquarie RYC and four from the host club.

The weather was warm with a brisk southerly breeze blowing, a favoured direction at Kogarah Bay, with a rising tide that was to have an influence later in the morning. All skippers elected to use B rig.
